Safe Rider Workshop
Safe Rider Workshop
April 26, 2024 - April 27, 2024
Safe Rider Workshops
Our Safe Rider scheme aims to reduce motorcycle casualties.
The one day-long workshops are aimed at all fully qualified riders, from post-test novices to experienced riders who want to improve their skills to become better and safer riders.
The sessions are relaxed and informal.
Goals:
- The underlying message of our workshops is that education is the key, not enforcement.
- In a conflict-free environment, riders will be introduced to the police roadcraft system - the corner stone of police riding.
- The workshop provides individuals with professional advice and confirms their strengths and identifies their weaknesses as a rider.
- During the road session you will receive a demonstration ride by a police rider and there will be an opportunity to have your riding assessed with written feedback.
Dates, prices, details:
- Suffolk Police Safe Rider workshops are run at Police Headquarters, Martlesham Heath.
- The workshops cost £50 and run over two days; a Friday evening and Saturday during the day. The first six riders under the age of 25 are free. Thereafter it will be 50% off for riders under the age of 25.
- Participants receive a pre-read on the system of road craft, with particular attention given to positioning and cornering. This is discussed with you in the evening session, followed by an escorted ride-out session with a class one police motorcyclist the following day.
- A maximum 3:1 ratio ensures an accurate and personalised assessment of your riding performance, which is then explained to you at the end of the session.
- Once a date has been arranged you will receive information prior to attendance.
- Dates for 2024 are as follows:
- 22-23 March
